Michael (Mick) Meilahn is an influential contributor to the American Studio Glass Movement. Since the 1970s, Meilahn’s work has been exhibited in museums and collected by numerous public and private collections across the United States and internationally.
Born into a Wisconsin fourth-generation farm family, and educated in glass blowing in college, Mick later studied alongside German glass legend Erwin Eisch, considered a founder of the studio glass movement in Europe.
Mick’s body of work which includes glass sculpture and large glass and multi-media installations intertwines the artist’s investigation into agriculture, crop production, genetic food modification, and the ancient history of corn.
